EGE Social Studies (Government and Economics) Remediation Policy:
How to review and earn some points back on tests
The rules: For multiple choice common assessments, we will allow students to remediate all of them except the final exam. Remediations must be completed within 2-3 Academic Support days of receiving back their test scores.
A student scoring below a 50% may remediate up to 60%, a student scoring above 50% may remediate up to a maximum of 10% but no higher than 85% (example: 30% can become 60%, 52% can become 62%, 82% can only become 85%). A student can only remediate a multiple choice test one time.
Procedure:
1. Student comes to Academic Support (Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:25 - 3:00 in D109).
2. Teacher and student analyze that student’s test results.
3. Teacher assigns remediation. Remediation will be written in PEA format to target the content objective(s) that the student is struggling with
4. Student completes remediation at academic support that day, or in a timely manner (usually just a few days), and may earn back points depending on the quality.
Written part of tests (CRQs)/ Constructed Response Questions
Students are allowed to rewrite and earn a higher score after having a one-on-one conference with one of the EGE teachers, usually at Academic Support. Students bring original CRQ with the rubric to the conference. Rewrites must be done in a timely manner, and the original with rubric must be turned in with the revision.
