Adams 12 Math Credit Requirements
All students must earn 3 math credits to graduate.
All students must be enrolled in math during 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. Most colleges prefer to see students also taking math in 12th grade.
Integrated Math 1, Math 2 and Math 3 Course Descriptions
Placement
Students will not need to select a math course as part of the registration process. They will be assigned to the appropriate class based on their current coursework.
Incoming 9th graders start in Math 1 Yearlong (1 class period per day).
Students who wish to accelerate their high school math experience can take Math 2 Block in August and Math 3 Block in January as sophomores. Otherwise, students will take Math 2 Yearlong.
They have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics, Trigonometry/PreCalculus, or Math for Liberal Arts (concurrent enrollment with Front Range Community College) in 12th grade.
Incoming 9th graders who have successfully completed 8th Grade Honors Math (determined by the District in May) will take Math 2 Block in August and Math 3 Block in January. Students will have the opportunity to take AP math classes in 11th and 12th grades.
Incoming 9th graders who have successfully completed other math courses at Legacy will take the next level in their sequence and may have the opportunity to take up to three years of Calculus and/or AP Stats.

Placement Test
The placement test is primarily for students transferring into Adams 12, not students who attended an Adams 12 school for 8th grade.
Students who have excelled at 8th Grade Honors Math can consider taking the placement test to skip Math 2 and move directly into Math 3 Yearlong. While it's an option, we don't recommend it for the following reasons:
Students end their 9th grade year with just 1 math credit.
Students do not advance beyond their math peers who complete the Math 2 Block / Math 3 Block sequence.
Students are not in class with their math peers as the Math 3 Yearlong course is primarily for 10th grade students who successfully passed the Math 1 Block / Math 2 Block sequence in 9th grade and 11th grade students who have lower math skills.
Students may create holes in their math education by skipping Math 2 even if some of the Math 2 content is a review for the student.
Students who start high school in Math 3 will be required to pass at least one AP math class to graduate.
The placement test date for the fall enrollment will be mid-May at Legacy High School. In order to sign up for a placement test, please fill out the form and you'll be contacted with the specifics. Placement Test Form
