The Legacy Math Department gives tests on individual essential outcomes. For each essential outcome a grade of 1-4 is awarded according to the student's level of understanding and ability to apply that essential outcome. The tests are ordered so there are level 2 type questions which are made up of the basic level of understanding needed to succeed, level 3 type questions which require less scaffolding and applications to the real world, and level 4 type questions which require a deeper understanding of the concepts and the ability to make connections to other areas.
1. Leveled assessments are used. This means that questions on the test are categorized by their level based on the district math rubric shown:
2. Students are graded based on their performance at each level of questioning on the assessment. Each section
receives a score from the teacher that describes whether or not they have achieved full success, partial success, or
limited success at that level.
3. For constructed response portions of the test each question will be given a grade out of four according to the rubric below.
