Legacy makes it to the Sweet 16 for the third consecutive year!!!

After getting knocked out by the #2 seed, Far Northeast Warriors, there was still cause for celebration.  This year's varsity team made it to the CHSAA 5A playoffs Sweet 16 for the third consecutive year - one of only 6 programs in the entire state to accomplish this feat!  The bar has been set high for the 2018 campaign!

First Round Playoff Win!!!

The boys won a tough contest in tougher conditions at North Stadium on 10/26/17.  It was the program's third consecutive year with a playoff win in the first round.  The battle took place in the wind, snow, and cold against a very tough opponent in Aurora Central.  Great job boys!

The Team Prepares for the Playoffs!!!

CHSAA has announced the bracket for the 5A Boys Soccer Playoffs.  With that announcement Legacy has officially qualified for the state playoffs for the third year in a row, a new program record.  Legacy has received the #15 seed and will have a home game against #18 Aurora Central on Thursday, October 26.  Time and location are confirmed - North Stadium, 6:00pm.  Click here to see the full bracket.

The Record Setting Continues!

The varsity team completed it's regular season with a 4-0 win over Poudre which brought the regular season record to 10-4-1...which ties the best regular season record in program history.  The team will learn about its playoff berth on Sunday, October 22.  Their first game will likely be on Thursday, 10/26.

Program Wide Team Dinner Event, Monday 10/16

The soccer program has been given a free catered dinner by Olive Garden and the Legacy Athletic Department.  We will host that event at 6pm on Monday, 10/16, in the LHS Commons.  JV and Varsity players will go directly after practice.  The C team will arrive after their game against Fort Collins HS.  The event is for all players and their families.  Feel free to bring additional items like those at the tailgate event.
This event is NOT our banquet, but is simply a time to come together as a program and enjoy each other's company as well as a way to carbo-load for our game against Fort Collins on Tuesday, 10/17.

History Repeats Itself

In its quest for a 7th consecutive win, Legacy had to settle for a draw against Broomfield.  In front of a raucous crowd of supporters, Legacy faught through two overtime periods to end in a 0-0 draw.  The tie against Broomfield ended a 6 game winning streak the same way it did in 2016.  Check out the BoCoPreps.com article at:  http://www.bocopreps.com/fall-sports/boyssoccer/ci_31367275/boys-soccer-legacy-broomfield-battle-scoreless-tie

Number Six!

Rocky Mountain became the Lightning's sixth consecutive victim in a tight contest.  Legacy will chase #7 against Broomfield on Tuesday, 10/10/17, at 6pm at North Stadium - it will also be the Christopher Reagan Memorial game.

Legacy Makes it Five-in-a-Row in Historic Fashion

After a wonderful pre-game honoring the players, their parents, and the seniors, Legacy capped off the event with a record setting night.  They beat Fairview for the first time in the Romano-era and possibly in school history.  They did so on a Noah Stover penalty kick which was the 49th goal of the season, setting a new program record for most goals in a regular season!

Upcoming Special Events

Senior/Parent Night: Tuesday, Oct 3 - 6pm at North Stadium vs Fairview

Chris Reagan Memorial Game: Tuesday, Oct 10 - 6pm at North Stadium vs Broomfield

Legacy wins four straight in huge fashion!!!

The varsity team posted four consecutive big wins over Front Range League opponents: Mountain Range, Horizon, Greeley West, and Loveland.  The combined scores were 34-2!  Keep up the good work boys!!!

The boys have fun on and off the field!

The soccer program hosted a tailgate at North Stadium between the varsity soccer and football games on 9/21/17.  A good time was had ball all, including other students and friends of the program.

The varsity team earned its first win over Boulder since 2011 on Tuesday night, 2-1.  It was a tremendous team effort for 80 minutes that had too many highlights to mention.  The Boulder team was coming off a 20-0 season and a state championship which earned them a top 10 national ranking; they were the currently ranked as the #1 team in Colorado via the CHSAA coaches' poll; and they were off to a 4-0-1 season start so far this year.

The Lightning enter league play this week against two strong opponents including defending state champs, Boulder HS.  Some photos from a recent varsity team bonding events are below.  Among them you will see Coach Romano who leads by example..."If you can catch this thing, you can catch greased lightning!" - Mickey from Rocky.  Go get 'em boys - show 'em your team speed!!!
Varsity is released at 2pm on Thursday for the game at Monarch - remember there are no buses!

Coach Romano gets some training in (above) while the boys have some fun of their own (below).

Boys Soccer Defeats 6 time state champion LHS Softball Team!

Well...that may be a bit of an exaggeration...
LHS Boys Soccer and LHS Girls Softball shared the training field recently for some inter-team bonding...and what a hoot it was.  The boys showed exactly how non-transferrable their soccer skills were as 18 batters generated exactly ONE base hit...and it was from Coach Romano!  Highlights included two boys getting hit by pitches and a couple stolen bases.  When the girls picked up the bats highlights included multiple home runs and more fielding errors than can be counted on both hands.  Both teams hope to support each other as they play Broomfield in the coming days/weeks.  The boys are hopeful they'll get another chance soon that includes a soccer ball!

 Getting hit by a pitch!
Demonstrating the finer points of a baseball swing!
   Fetching another homerun!

The program raised over $6000 with their collective efforts.  Congratulations and thanks go out to the athletes and families for their efforts.

Legacy added another upset to its growing historical list of playoff successes with a first round win over Thunderridge.  LHS (#25) traveled to TRHS (#8) and used the outstanding fan support to play their best match of the year en route to a 5-0 win on the road.  Click here for a CHSAA article about the game.
