COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Academy of Performing Arts, Dance Art is a performance-based course. Students will demonstrate understanding of technique, composition, performance and interpretation.  Through practice, theory and performance , students will discover historical understandings of the cultural impact dance has on society.  This course is designed to further student confidence as as ensemble members, solo performers, choreographers and directors to enhance their craft and prepare them for real world dance opportunities.


Medical & Absences/ Alternative Assignment

Students must make up missed work to receive participation credit. If a student is unable to participate in an activity due to a medical restriction or absence, written work will be assigned. Students have one week to make up work for full credit.

Spring Dance Concert: Friday May 10th, 2024. ACIT Performing Arts Center at 7:00pm


Performing Arts Awards Night: Friday May 31st, 2024 @ ACIT Performing Arts Center at 6:00pm

DANCE ACADEMY UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS


*Dance Uniform supplies can also be purchased locally at Dance & Fitness Factory or Online at Discount Dance Supply. Items will be shipped directly to your home. Shoe samples are available in class for sizing. 


Dance Shoes:  

Color: Suntan or Tan and/or Freeform Modern Shoes (Capezio Style# FF01) Color: Caramel

or Bloch, Adult :Pro Elastic" Canvas Spilt-sole Ballet Shoes (Style No: S0621L)


Required Uniform for Ballet Class, Performances & Master Classes

* Additional layers of clothing other than the required items are to be removed at the beginning of class.

 *All pants must not exceed the ankle in length. If pants are too long, the dancer can lose control and fall.

Lockers

Classroom lockers are provided for students in the dance studio for dance shoe storage. Students are required to bring a combination lock to safely store items. Cell phones must be turned off and placed in belongings during class.

 

Hair

Hair must be pulled up and secured to the head so as not to obscure the line of the neck.  It should be arranged so that it does not move during class or otherwise distract the dancer.  Long Hair must be in a bun for ballet class. Short hair must be pinned out of the face or held back with a headband.

 

Jewelry

Jewelry must be removed before class. No dangling earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc.


Costumes

Students are responsible for contributing to costume needs for class or stage performances.

Career and Technical Education Program Uniforms

The following uniform and violation requirements apply to all CTE programs as identified below. Students are expected to arrive to class prepared and dress into their appropriate uniforms. Students without the required uniform are not permitted to participate. This will result in a loss of points towards their daily grade. See Uniform Violation below.
