Book Check Out
Students can check out one book at a time from Mrs. Wilcox's classroom library. Exceptions may be made over long school breaks. Students are required to record the title of the book on their individual check-out index cards. When a student returns a book, the student must show his or her card and the returned book to an adult in the classroom. The adult will then check-in and initial the return on the student's check-out card. Should a book become lost or damaged (water damage, ripped cover, mangled pages, broken spine) beyond what would be considered reasonable wear while checked out to a student, then a request for the replacement of the book or the cost of the book based on market value will be sent to the the student's parents.
Snack
Please try to avoid sending nut snacks to school. This is to protect students with life-threatening food allergies. Please read your child's food ingredients labels. A nutritious snack and water help to increase focus in class. A reusable water bottle is a great option for your child since we have a filtered water fountain in the cafeteria. Please send a healthy, reasonable snack. Soda, juice boxes, candy, and gum are not permitted as snack items in our classroom. Please be sure your child eats a nutritious breakfast at home or picks one up at school. Snack sharing is not permitted.
Behavior
It is my expectation that the students are responsible for their own behavior. Student choices will reflect their self-discipline and independence. Reflection sheets may be completed by students to allow reflection on behaviors/attitudes as needed. The reflection sheet is followed up by a discussion between the teacher and student. It also will require a parent's signature.
Email and Voicemail Policy
Email and voicemail will be checked at least once a day and may not be checked until the end of the school day since I will often be busy working with students. If you need to deliver an urgent message to your child or me during the school day, please contact the office.
Late homework and missed assignments
Students are responsible for submitting late work to the teacher who assigned the work. When students are absent, they are responsible for checking in with their teachers to collect missed work. The best place for students to check for assignment details is Google Classroom. However, much of the work posted in Google Classroom is completed in school. Homework will be posted on the Homework Google Doc that is posted in Google Classroom and on our class website.
