Supply Teachers - Grade 7 - 12
Position: Grades 7-12 Teachers
Location: Abraar Secondary School, Ottawa, ON
Status: Occasional/Supply Teacher (Temporary)
Reporting Relationships: Principal
The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is a nationally incorporated charity with chapters in 13 cities across Canada. Abraar Secondary School is one of MAC projects, and it is ministry inspected private secondary school located in the west end of Ottawa. Preference will be given to those who are members of the Ontario College of Teachers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
prepare course long range plan, unit plans and homework materials;
prepare lesson plans with clear objectives that follow provincial ministry’s curriculum and follow the educational guidelines as outlined in the 2010 Growing Success document and the Ontario Curriculum Guidelines;
participate in professional development conferences and activities;
present materials in a logical manner and in appropriate quantities;
maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within classroom;
incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning;
do formal and informal ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking;
integrate social responsibility and kindness into daily teaching and routines;
perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Ontario Teacher Certification is an asset;
teaching experience in the junior/intermediate level;
excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English;
good technical and computer skills;
ability to work within a team, with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative and confidence;
interpersonal skills with an emphasis on compassion, patience and professionalism;
strong research and teaching skills;
sound knowledge of Islamic faith and practice.
Desirable Qualifications
Teacher Certification
Principal Certification
Teaching experience in an Islamic school in North America
Experience with/knowledge of current elementary/secondary school program(s) and procedures.
Administrative experience in an Islamic school.
Sound knowledge of Islamic faith and practice.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Strong research and teaching skills.
Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on compassion, patience and professionalism
Ability to work within a team, with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative and confidence
