Private Lessons on Your Instrument!

Due to the COVID-19 situation this year, this is going to be the BEST option for your student to stay actively engaged in their instrument over the summer! Please reach out to Mrs. Acy if you would like a specific teacher recommendation for your student! Private lessons are available for students during the summer and continuing on into the fall, if the student chooses to continue. *Most of these lessons will be done virtually during the summer of 2020.

Compose Your Own Music!

The following websites allow students to create FREE accounts to create their own music and can be used on the AASD Chromebooks!

If you're looking for the next step and have a laptop or desktop computer available, try the free software "Musescore". This can help you create very professional looking pieces (and it's what Mrs. Acy uses whenever she re-writes music for you in school band!)

Essential Elements Interactive

If you like the melodies in your Essential Elements books, but are sick of playing them by yourself create your free account on Essential Elements Interactive! This website has many fun tools and play along tracks for any piece in the method book and can be a fun new way to practice or give a mini concert for family and friends! (Instructions for how to access your free account are found the back cover and inside front cover of your method book.)

CANCELED FOR 2020: Appleton North Summer Band Camp: Week-long band day camp that is offered at Appleton North High School for students entering grades 7-9. This is an excellent camp and will definitely challenge your student in a very fun environment!

CANCELED FOR 2020: Summer School Lessons: Lessons are offered in like-instrument groups as a part of AASD’s Summer School offerings. These lessons are a great way to encourage your band student's consistent growth as the lessons occur throughout the duration of the AASD Summer School.

CANCELED FOR 2020: Summer Music Camp!! These camps are a chance for your student to completely immerse themselves in music for an entire week. Most have residential or commuter camper options. Scholarships are often available as well. There are many camps around the state, so you should be able to find one that meets all of your musical needs.

Please do not hesitate to email Mrs. Acy if you have further questions pertaining to your student's summer opportunities. If your student is signed up for band at Madison and is currently renting an instrument through the district, an instrument will be available for him or her throughout the summer. If your student is currently renting an instrument from Heid Music or another music store, please continue to have that instrument available for your student’s continued growth throughout the summer.
