Band Related Gift Ideas

Top 5 Band-Related Gift Ideas!

Wondering what to get for your band student? Here are five ideas that will be fun and help your student in their musical growth...

5. A cool new instrument case... Music stores will generally stock a variety of cases to store and transport your student's band instrument. Often times, these cases will come with handy shoulder straps for easy carrying and can be smaller and lighter than the case that came with the instrument. Mrs. Acy always recommends a case that effectively protects your student's instrument, so soft cases with no hard protective shell are generally not a good investment.

4. Supplies... Band students are always in need of supplies! Percussionists can always use a new pair of drumsticks. Brass players always need valve oil (trust me!). Woodwind players (except flutists, obviously!) always need reeds. All of these basic supplies make great stocking stuffers and can be purchased at any music store like Heid Music!

3. A new instrument... Okay, this one can be pretty expensive, but it is something to consider if your student has really taken an interest in music. Financing is often available at many music stores. Mrs. Acy would be more than happy to recommend a name brand and model that would best suit your student's needs.

2. "Cool" music... This one is a popular choice by all band students. Everyone loves to play pieces that they hear on the radio or in the movies. Arrangers have made available hundreds of different compilation books that highlight popular and film music. This music gives your student something fun to practice on top of the band music he or she gets from school. Think of it as a healthy dessert after a good meal of practicing!

1. Private lessons... The gift that keeps on giving! Private lessons give your student the opportunity to excel on his or her instrument and in music in general. There are many wonderful musicians in our community who give private lessons, as well as several honors groups that will give your student experiences that will allow your student to be the best he or she can be in music! See Mrs. Acy for information about available teachers in the area.
