Emotional Regulation

Regulation Techniques:

~ Belly Breathing - Take a big breath of air into your lungs. Put your hands on your belly and feel your stomach rise as it becomes full of air.

~ Count Backwards - Pick a small or large number depending on how much calming down there is to do. Count backward focusing on each number until you feel better.

~ Exercise - Do 10 jumping jacks, dance to your favorite song, do a few cartwheels. Get active!

~ Talk with a trusted adult or friend - sometimes it is nice to have a conversation about what is bothering us. Having someone you trust to talk with can be helpful! Feel free to talk to one of the Counselors!

~ Stretch - Moving your muscles slowly can get your blood pumping in a soothing way. Try doing simple stretches or yoga!
