For 3rd grade teachers specifically, this is the age where students shift from loving the game environment, to thinking it may be immature. We have heard from a number of teachers that when the environment was changed, by the platform early in the year, their students were mad about it. Many students still love the K-2 platform. Please know students who have earned coins, cards, adventure friends, etc. will lose them so it is important to make sure students get a chance to spend or play with some of them before changing an environment. Our district recommendation is to wait until mid year or later in the year to make the switch and to do it based on what you know of your students. However, proceed when you think it is best just know the update CANNOT be reversed.
Many schools have place a direct district link to our 4J Dreambox on their school websites. Families can continue to use this!
For new users or those who can't find the link we've place a 4J CLEVER link on the 4J Homepage. Check out this awesome video by Kellyclare that can be shared with families to show them how to connect!
Students will be prompted to create/choose an Avatar and will get some details about how to get started. Want to see it in action? Try the links below. These are also great for showing to students new to Dreambox!

No! The program learns as student's play. The program collects, analyzes and responds to over 800 pieces of information about that student and how they learn every minute… things like how many clicks, pace and speed, efficiency of strategy, etc. It uses this data to adapt the current and subsequent lessons.
The program works at on-level and above level as students exhibit skills as well as providing opportunities to reinforce and fill any gaps in learning from PK-Grade 8.
To support productive struggle, the program will restate the question or task, offer a tool, scaffold the question, and/or provide an example. It takes a repeated incorrect selection or response to prompt these supports. It is the program’s way of not over supporting but giving feedback and scaffolds when needed. It takes these supports into consideration when selecting the choice of activities on a students learning path. If a student isn’t progressing it will end an activity early but the student will still receive rewards and games.
Some iPADS will benefit from being reset so that applications will reload accurately. Our amazing tech team put together these directions to reset school-issues iPADS that you can share with families! Also students need to be reminded to always enter through Clever. The Dreambox may be left open or active even after kid have logged out. Trying to go through the Dreambox app icon or window remind kids to go to Clever but occasionally does not. No "school code" is ever needed given our 4J set-up.
Students are automatically added to your class section shortly after they are placed into your class in Synergy. If it has been more than 24 hours and you are not seeing them, please submit a desktop ticket at 4jdesktop@4j.lane.edu.
Yes! Please have them visit our Dreambox Family Resource page!
Clever is very helpful and wants to make sure your child doesn't have to log in again. However, in order for another child or person to log into their account, you will need to quit (not just close) the applications and browsers. Then your device will know a new person is trying to access.
On a computer holding Command-Q or selecting "Chrome (or other browser)" from the upper menu--->selecting Quit "Google Chrome" should do the trick!
On an iPAD you can select logout in the Clever app and/or double-tap on the home button to show which apps are open. Find Clever. Press and hold the app window, then swipe up (without lifting your finger off the glass) to send it off the screen.

Most of the time logging back in or toggling the switch on the side of the iPAD for sounds can fix this quickly. Here is a quick support article with other suggestions: https://support.dreambox.com/s/article/How-to-Troubleshoot-iPad-audio-issues
