High School Civics Project
*Limit two (2) times during grades 9-12 (1.5 points each)
Opportunity for high school students, as individuals or in groups of 2-5, to spend a semester or more working to encourage the government (federal, state, or local) to solve a real world problem.
Service-Learning Project (1 point for every 25 hours)
Minimum twenty-five (25) hours
Must include a reflective civic learning essay/presentation/product

Middle School Capstone Project (1 point)
Only eligible for grade 8
Demonstrate readiness to make a positive difference in the public life of their communities through the applied combination of civic knowledge, skills and actions, mindset, and experiences
In the eighth grade year, as part of their final exam, students create and present capstone projects to reflect and reinforce the things they have learned in middle school. Capstone projects connect a student's academic skills with their personal passions, to show off their abilities and knowledge as they move on to the next step in their education.
Extra-curricular participation or work-based learning experience. (.5 every 40 hours)
Minimum of 40 hours of active (link to page) participation (from grades 7-12)

High School Civic Capstone Project (4 points)
In grades 10-12, students have the opportunity to complete an independent study that demonstrates their readiness to make a positive difference in the public life of their communities through the applied combination of civic knowledge, skills and actions, mindset, and experiences.
Students will select, research, and solve an issue that had impact on their community.
Students who are interested may wish to participate in National History Day.
This is voluntary and students will work with Mrs. Beauchamp to progress through the steps.
