The mission of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project is to help young people become avid and skilled readers, writers, and inquirers. We accomplish this goal through research, curriculum development, and through working shoulder-to-shoulder with students, teachers, and school leaders. The organization has developed state-of-the-art tools and methods for teaching reading and writing, for using performance assessments and learning progressions to accelerate progress, and for literacy-rich content-area instruction. Thousands of teachers regard the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project as a continual source of professional renewal and education.
Built and run by education activists, American Reading Company is a trusted partner of 5,320 schools and 1,070 districts in 50 states. Our team helps strengthen district and school capacity at every level by placing literacy and agency at the heart of school transformation, through:

Curriculum modules in mathematics are marked by in-depth focus on fewer topics. They integrate the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS), rigorous classroom reasoning, extended classroom time devoted to practice and reflection through extensive problem sets, and high expectations for mastery. The Standards for Mathematical Content are a balanced combination of procedure and understanding. Expectations that begin with the word “understand” are often especially good opportunities to connect the practices to the content.
Research shows that the project-based approach promotes excitement as well as a deep and meaningful learning for ALL students. Students using our curricula take part in learning experiences framed around answering questions, addressing challenges, or solving problems. Our curricula differ from traditional programs, in that they contain all the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts that need to be taught, but they are presented in an exciting, innovative, and relevant way. The content is always placed in a larger context that emphasizes using science and engineering practices, and mathematical reasoning while motivating students through a project/problem-based learning approach.
The New York State K-12 Social Studies Framework is designed to prepare students for college, careers, and civic life with courses that are rigorous and aligned to New York State Learning Standards. This Framework integrates existing New York State Learning Standards and the New York State Core Curriculum for Social Studies into a single, three-part document. It is intended to serve as a guide for local districts in developing their Social Studies curricula. Social Studies practices are identified, as well as the key ideas, conceptual understandings, and content specifications.
