All students have access to a laptop where they complete the iReday online assessment in math and reading. iReady offers adaptive diagnostic which leverage advanced technology to provide a deep, customized evaluation of every student and to track students growth and performance consistently and continuously over a student’s entire K–12 career.
By adapting based on student response patterns, adaptive assessments are able to derive large amounts of information from a limited number of test items. This allows the assessments to more accurately and more efficiently pinpoint students’ needs as compared to traditional fixed-form tests.
Students are given either an argument, information or narrative pre-on demand writing prompt. Along with the prompt, students receive a rubric and checklist to evaluate their work. The Teachers College Reading and Writing program help students strengthen their writing techniques to effectively use detail, theme, structure, content and style. Students are given the tools to edit and revise their writing piece to produce a post-on demand writing prompt.
Before and after every unit, students take a unit exam to determine proficiency on topics covered in the unit. The pre-exam give students and teachers an idea of the topics which students are and aren't familiar with. The post-exam shows mastery of skills and how much progress students have made throughout the unit.
