Teachers Lounge

Our Library Reservation Calendar is now on Outlook...

Teachers are encouraged to reserve class time for research, collaboration, and hands-on learning in the library media center - where books, periodicals, ebooks, databases, computer stations, a collaboration station, a makerspace, a whiteboard, a green screen, and the full suite of Adobe Creative Cloud software (e.g. Photoshop, Premiere) can all be utilized.

A schedule is maintained by the library staff for class use of the library media center.

Teachers who bring their classes should remain with the class at all times. The library staff will assist the students with research, but the teacher remains responsible for the behavior of his/her students. An atmosphere that is conducive to students staying on task should be maintained at all times.

The Library Media Specialist should be an integral part of teacher planning before assigning research work to students. Teachers are urged to let the library staff know when a research assignment is given so that when students arrive, the library staff will be better prepared to assist these students. Upon request, the library staff can put aside materials for class research on Teacher Reserve. The library staff can also assist teachers by suggesting materials in the collection that might be appropriate for a given assignment and in orienting classes to the resources available for a given assignment. Additionally, library staff are available for in-class visits to do book talks, teach research and literacy skills, and assist with class projects. Whenever possible, the teacher should arrange all such uses with the library well in advance.

The library media center program hopes to motivate and assist students and teachers in the effective use of its resources and services. Teachers are urged to make personal use of the library media center and are invited to ask the library media center's assistance in familiarizing themselves with the services and materials available.
