April 2021 - as an official reporter and the chief editor

This is my last contribution to Dialogue Magazine. In this edition, I wrote a flash fiction that was inspired by Taylor Swift's songs "All Too Well" and "New Year's Day" and the editorial or we called it "A letter from editor". I also edited a winning essay that is very good and excellent. While editing it, I was so amazed how this high school student delivered his thoughts well.

The flash fiction

A letter from editor

I am not sure if you can read that well, but I would love to share what I write there. I am so proud of that editorial too. So, I will put the content below for you to read.

A Journey to an Epiphany

Before 2020 started, we all set high hopes and goals in life as it marks the beginning of a new decade. However, who knows that 2020 would crash down in a split second? That being said, 2020 has also become a year where we learn not to take things for granted. Although the Covid-19 pandemic has turned our lives upside down, there are always some lessons we can take from this experience.

Our theme for this edition is "A Journey to an Epiphany." The word 'epiphany' means a moment of sudden and great revelation and realization. It was also inspired by one of Taylor Swift's songs, 'epiphany,' a tribute to her granddad and the essential health care workers during pandemic who only have 'twenty minutes to sleep, but they dream of some epiphany.' This theme is an invitation to reflect on everything and be grateful, as all the experiences we had in 2020 bring us to an epiphany that life doesn't end here; there are more to your life.

In this edition, we will get a thorough look at Mr. Thomas Wahyu Prabowo Mukti's achievement as one of the highly-ranked lecturers based on students' evaluation and his sharing on living his dream as an educator. We also dive deep into how ELESP's legendary Service Program Design had to adapt its way of conduct so it doesn't lose its touch as an online course. There is also an inspirational article on how Tempat Nasi Gratis Jogja comes to the rescue with their mission in reducing food waste and providing food for people in need. We also highlight more serious topics; will there be more masks than jellyfish in the ocean? How will the future of the young generation after the pandemic be?

Working on this edition was such a roller-coaster for us, just like 2020 was to everyone. A roller-coaster that brings us to an epiphany that no matter what happens, there is always something we can be thankful for. Enjoy the ride, and please let us know which article you like the most by reaching us on Instagram, @dialoguemagz_usd. Happy reading!

Cheers,

Vina Kanasya

Chief Editor

p.s: you can tell that I am a Swiftie. That flash fiction and now the editorial. I proposed the slogan for the edition, I was inspired by Taylor Swift's song 'epiphany' on her 8th studio album, 'folklore'.

High School Magazine - Bikar

Bikar Edition 37

This is my first edition as the editor-in-chief

This is the article. I interviewed Duta "Sheila On 7" on about "Girl powers."

Bikar edition 38

In this edition, I contributed 2 articles on my own, and one collaborative article with my friend who was also the editor-in-chief.

This is my collaborative article that I did with my friend. We wrote about uniqueness in the middle of diversity (more or less that is the translation). We adapted Dewi Lestari's prose entitled "Salju Gurun" as the main analogy in this article.
