General Discussion & Questions

Tonight's net was limited to 30 minutes because I didn't want to tie up the repeater due to the weather conditions.

We had 11 check ins, including two via SMS. Please be here for the January 23 net when we discuss what to do in order to reach the repeater. It seems that there were two stations that were unable to reach the 94 repeater for one reason or another. I was able to have a conversation after the net with one of them via the W0GJT UHF repeater at 448.150. Please contact Terry at KE0HNW@arrl.net if you have questions about programming your radio, so you are able to reach the repeater!

Questions and Discussion during the net:

  • KE0JFL (Forrest) - mentioned how important it is to join clubs/associations and pay dues to help cover the costs of keeping the repeaters up and running. He and KE0KDI also mentioned the WCARC Meeting this Saturday, January 14. Be at the Westar Aviation gate beginning at 0900, but no later than 0920 in order to be let in. The meeting begins at 0930 at the Civil Air Patrol building. (Look for all the vehicles with antennas!!) For more information, visit www.w0rrz.org. You don't have to be a member to come to the meeting.
  • KF0JU (Ken) asked when the next VEC testing will be held. W0MWM (Stoney) confirmed that it would be Saturday, January 21 at 0900 at the Mesa County Central Library at 5th St. and Grand Ave. in Grand Junction. For more info contact AK0BC or visit http://www.arrl.org/exam_sessions/grand-junction-co-81501-2731-15 about this specific session, or http://www.arrl.org/find-an-amateur-radio-license-exam-session to find more sessions.
  • Also, it was mentioned that those who check into the Oatmeal Net would have answers about the club meeting times and VEC testing times. The net is Monday - Friday, except holidays, 0730 to 0800 on the 146.94 repeater (Same one we're on). Please feel free to check in to that net as well!
