What is Autism?

Autism is a complex, lifelong developmental disability that typically appears during early childhood and can impact a person’s social skills, communication, relationships, and self-regulation. Autism is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is a “spectrum condition” that affects people differently and to varying degrees. Having autism can increase the risk of other conditions, such as, epilepsy.

Autism New Jersey

Autism New Jersey is a nonprofit agency committed to ensuring safe and fulfilling lives for individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who support them. Through awareness, credible information, education, and public policy initiatives, Autism New Jersey leads the way to lifelong individualized services provided with skill and compassion. We recognize the autism community’s many contributions to society and work to enhance their resilience, abilities, and quality of life.

POAC Autism Services

POAC Autism Services, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is making a difference today for every child with autism in our state. Each year we provide hundreds of events for the autism community including: training for parents and educators; recreational and support services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families; and training for police and first responders which is saving the lives of children with autism throughout the state.

The Autism National Committee (AUTCOM)

Autism National Committee is the only autism advocacy organization dedicated to “Social Justice for All Citizens with Autism” through a shared vision and a commitment to positive approaches. Our organization was founded in 1990 to protect and advance the human rights and civil rights of all persons with autism, pervasive developmental disorder and related differences of communication and behavior.

The Autism Society has a simple goal: To improve the lives of all living with autism. In order to improve lives, we focus on ensuring that all individuals with autism and their families have access to the help they need.
