Week 4 July 1-5
We hope everyone had a fun Independence Day Celebration! Seamanship week is always a little choppy with the holiday festivities, but it is one more chance to master sailing and racing skills before starting Series Races.
Special recognition goes out to the new Opti Race Team members, Teague, Cassidy and Coco, who were officially inducted on Monday after competing in the MHYC JO's!
Everyone drilled starts and practiced getting around the race course successfully. There was even time to hone their capsize recovery speed by learning to do a “Dry Capsize.”
The Annual July 3rd Bake Sale and 50/50 Raffle was a sensation! The night was topped off with glow sticks and the annual MHYC fireworks display. Thanks to all the bakers and supporters of the fundraiser. Congratulations to Mrs. Kampine for winning the 50/50 Raffle!
Friday was a fun day where everyone got to sail whatever boat they wanted. In the afternoon we held the Team Challenge Relay! Congratulations to the ___ Team for winning the event!
The race team is headed to Area E Semi Finals at Edgewater this weekend. They are competing for a birth to go to US Sailing Nationals in San Francisco! Check the results here: http://www.regattanetwork.com/event/19157#_newsroom

Parent's Day is Tuesday afternoon! You're welcome to join us after 12pm for lunch or at 1pm to start the afternoon's activities. Parents are welcome to come out on powerboats and the sailors will show off their skills!
