Electronic Communication

2008: I use discussion forums (available through ANGEL) to give my students the opportunity to post their work and get feedback as soon as possible. This approach is specially effective when I want to answer questions or provide feedback before the next class meeting. In the example below, I asked my students to post their topic ideas for an assignment. I was able to review each student's proposal, offer feedback, and suggest revisions if needed. All this was accomplished before we met again in person, so my students were able to start working on their drafts earlier than expected.

Students may also contact me through e-mail (via ANGEL or PSU Webmail) if they need feedback or if they have questions.

Discussion Forums are also useful when students are encouraged to respond to each other's postings. This allows students to learn how other classmates approach the same assignment, and teaches them how to respond to other writers' work.
