TWT Portfolio - K.V. White

I want my students to have access to the class materials at all times. That is why I always provide copies of the syllabus, assignment sheets, and other important documents via ANGEL (www.angel.psu.edu) or Blackboard (http://learn.vccs.edu), two excellent course management sites. This approach is beneficial for the following reasons:

    • The students can access all documents from home, school, or any computer with internet access. If the students misplace any of the documents, they can easily obtain a copy of it via ANGEL or Blackboard

    • Organizing all documents in folders allows me to keep related documents together, and it helps the students find whatever documents they need efficiently.

    • Additions and updates to each assignment can be done electronically, and students can be notified of such changes via e-mail or announcements (both services are provided by ANGEL and Blackboard).

    • Changes to the syllabus can be uploaded instantly. I did so in the sample below (second document listed: "Updated Schedule"). Students can be notified by e-mail, or by posting an announcement in ANGEL

The example below is from my Technical Writing class at Penn State University (using ANGEL). The class is for students who are pursuing careers in fields of science and mathematics. I taught this section with an electronic book that could be accessed online. I was able to provide a link to the e-book site via ANGEL, so students could easily log in (see first link on ANGEL site below).
