Codenames & Formula D

Happy First Post! Not wargames but both fun games!

We had a game night this past Saturday and started with 4 rounds of Codenames. I really enjoyed the dynamic of the grid/spymaster setup and it played very differently each time depending on who was playing the role of spymaster. Interestingly enough all 4 games were won by the side that went first.

Next up was Formula D. We played the Monaco track with advanced cards (apparently- I have never read the rules just trusting Scott!).

This was my second time playing this. Last time we had 4 players take 2 cars each. This time we had 6 players with 1 car each. We decided on 1 lap only due to late night start. I started out 5th but got off to a fine start. However, the 2nd turn saw me overshoot by 5 spaces (did I mention it was late?) and I quickly burned all my breaks and tires. I basically limped along the rest of the game to avoid crashing or spinning out.

The race was neck and neck between the top 3 until the last turn with the winner coming out in 4th gear and accelerating to the finish! I really like this game- it balances playability with some strategy and makes for a fun intro to newer players.
