Formative Assessment Resources

Learning Target Assessments

Weekly Assessments from Washington Terrace Elementary: These weekly common formative assessments are used to assess students' understanding on a weekly basis and to quickly form intervention groups based on Essential Learning Targets.

Formal Exit Tickets

Formal Exit Tickets:  These short assessments review new concepts over two to five EngageNY lessons. They can  be used in place of the exit ticket for the lesson indicated on the WSD Lesson Guide or can serve as a common formative assessment for collaborative teams. If formal exit tickets are used and responded to throughout the module,  no end-of-module assessment may be necessary. Teachers should feel free to use and adjust these assessment to fit their needs. Released Test Items for Practice

New York Released Items: Each year the state of New York releases test items from previous years tests. The purpose of these test items is to train teachers on the format and type of questions student will encounter on their end-of-level state test. While this test is not exactly the same as SAGE, it tests the same core content and has a similar content. These rich questions can be used to prepare students for end-of-level testing and used in formative assessments.
