This Collection was inspired by our country’s recognition on the world stage for richness & diversity - our gold - our diamonds - our pearls.

At a time when Australia was not yet a nation but separate British Colonies gold was discovered. Between 1851 & 1861 Australia produced one third of the world’s gold. By the end of the 19th century Australia was the largest producer of gold in the world. With an output of 295 tons in 2018, Australia became the second largest gold producing country in the world. Australia’s only operational diamond mine - Argyle - is located in the remote Kimberley Region of Western Australia. Argyle Diamonds have been aged at around 1.5 billion years old and are found in intact cores of volcanic pipe rock. Argyle has been a key pillar in global diamond production since it opened in 1983 and is the largest supplier of coloured diamonds in the world.

Broome’s story is forever entwined with the pearling industry. As far back as 1865 pearl shell was sort after across the top end of Australia and exported to far corners of the globe. Thus was born the first industry with regulation in that region for pearl shell - not the pearl. The fact that a pearl even exists is a freak of nature, they are formed when an irritant becomes lodged in the oysters soft inner body. Until the start of the 20th century the only way of collection pearls was through divers risking their lives and needing to collect at least one ton of oysters to get just 3 or 4 pearls. Today natural pearls are amongst the rarest of gems. The cultured pearl was introduced by the Japanese around 1893 and with the cultured pearl techniques being introduced in Broome in the 1950’s the renowned Australian Pearling industry which produces the majority of the world’s finest quality cultured pearls was born.
