The “22^nd Workshop on Aggression” participants are invited to submit a manuscript for this special issue of IJDS. This special issue of the IJDS will mainly focus on the following topics: (a) conventional and cyber forms of aggression, (b) personality and environmental factors of aggression, (c) neuroscience and aggression, and (d) prevention and intervention programs. We welcome studies devoted to innovative methodological, conceptual, and empirical approaches, as well as studies with a developmental focus or representing comparative investigations of cross‐national, ethnic, and/or cultural differences in all types of aggression, anger, and socio-emotional learning in children, adolescents, and/or adults. We particularly welcome submissions with longitudinal designs, diverse methodologies and populations as well as multi-study papers. Submissions of researchers from interdisciplinary fields such as Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, Education, and/or Political Sciences are encouraged to submit a manuscript.

Authors interested in submitting a manuscript for this special issue must first submit a proposal (max. two pages) to the special section editors that outlines the topic, sample, methodology, and summary of findings. Proposals are due on December 1, 2017, and may be submitted directly to the Guest Editors: Herbert Scheithauer (herbert.scheithauer@fu-berlin.de), Panayiotis Stavrinides (Stavrini@ucy.ac.cy), and Kostas Fanti (kfanti@ucy.ac.cy). Initial decisions to invite full submissions will be completed by December 15, 2017. Full manuscript submissions will be due by February 15, 2018 and should be submitted electronically to our Manuscript Submission System (for detailed instructions to authors visit the journal’s website – see link below).All invited manuscripts will undergo the regular peer review process. Please note that an initial invitation does not guarantee acceptance.

About the Journal

Aim of the IJDS is to present the state of the art of research in the realm of developmental science conducted in multiple disciplines worldwide. The IJDS provides a platform for diverse types of empirical studies and theoretical papers dealing with bio-psychosocial mechanisms of change, human development, and psychopathology during infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Manuscripts on animal research with results that are relevant to the understanding of human development are also considered. Manuscripts on social, health, and education policy are welcome if they are based on theoretical and empirical principles concerning developmental science. Cross-cultural as well as comparative developmental studies will also be represented.

The IJDS invites English language manuscripts. All manuscripts pass through a standard, multilevel peer-review process. Authors are invited to submit original empirical or theoretical contributions (e.g. analysis of or commentary on established theories in the field of developmental science, novel theoretical developments, or attempts to elaborate and integrate existing work) as well as methodological and review papers (e.g. systematic reviews, meta-analyses or extensive review papers as well as papers dealing with any methodological issues of particular relevance to developmental science). Manuscripts devoted to interdisciplinary topics of phylogenetic or ontogenetic human development are of particular interest (e.g. psychology, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, neuroscience, genetics, and biology).

Suitable manuscripts are usually published within 3 to 4 months from submission. Accepted manuscripts will be published ahead of print with Onlinefirst, offering authors the advantage of making their research accessible to the public in a more timely manner. Onlinefirst manuscripts are citable by the publication date of the manuscript’s first online posting and the Digital Object Identifier (DOI), providing a persistent, permanent way to identify manuscripts published in the online environment.

Full-length articles are welcome, but authors are also encouraged to submit brief empirical research reports. Full-length manuscripts should not exceed 40,000 characters (note: the length of a manuscript in characters means letters AND empty spaces between letters/words) (approximately 20 double-spaced pages in 12-point Times New Roman font), including references, tables, and figures (note: count figures and tables, each printed on a separate page, as one page each). Manuscripts that exceed this limit will not be considered. Brief empirical research reports should not exceed 6 double spaced pages and 12,000 characters.
