NETBALL SQUAD WOWS COURT SIDE CROWD

Huge congratulations to our talented netball squad who, despite having only played together on several occasions, played magnificently at a recent home fixture. Comprising Year Six pupils, the home fixture was a perfect opportunity to get their chums on court (and parents) to cheer them on. Unfortunately victory was not theirs, as they narrowly lost to the league leaders from the Russell School but their behaviour and cracking passing was wonderful to behold. Coach Cooper has the final word: "I am so proud of this bunch of netballers, with little playing time, they have bonded into a skilful team. Their sportsmanship was fantastic to watch. It has been a pleasure working with them. Well done team."

THE ST STEPHEN'S BIG BATTERY HUNT - CAN YOU HELP?

We have signed up to the Big Battery Hunt! Schools up and down the country are recycling batteries and we plan to join them. Funded by Duracell, the initiative saw an astonishing four million batteries recycled last year. Batteries mean prizes and the schools that collect in the most batteries can win fabulous equipment (see below). We would love to win some prizes but, more imporantly, recycling used batteries will help our enviroment. Each classroom will have one of the Big Battery Hunt collection boxes pictured above. Year Three teacher, Sonia Chahil, explains: "I will log our battery collection totals on the Big Battery Hunt website and children can send in stories about their battery collection initiatives. We are very excited about this and want to encourage our children to recycle and reuse to help our environment. Our staff team will be bringing in their used batteries too. We will keep you posted on how many batteries we collect."
