Mrs. Polzine-Campbell

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

Hello! My name is Mrs. Polzine-Campbell.

I am again teaching fourth grade at Bear Cave Intermediate for the 2023-2024 school year. In the past I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grades, along with some substitute teaching.  I am very excited to get to know all of the students in the Fourth Street Neighborhood this year.  It will be fun to meet our learners!

It is best to contact me through email at leah.campbell@ssdtigers.org or phone me at 533-1574.  I will try to return emails (and phone calls) as quickly as possible.  From 7:30-8:00 a.m. and 3:15-3:30 are also good times to call.

I grew up in the little town of Henning, MN. From there I went to Bemidji State University, Bemidji, MN. I also ran Varsity Track and Varsity Cross Country while in college. Bemidji State is part of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). GO BEMIDJI BEAVERS! Additionally, I have a Masters in Education from Winona State University--which is a NSIC rival of BSU! My loyalty is still to Bemidji though... I bleed Beaver green, not Warrior purple!

My husband and I live here in Stewartville with our three beautiful daughters. They are currently in 11th grade, 8th grade, and 5th grade.  We seem to be busy all the time, and I am really enjoying watching my children grow up. It is going too fast! If only there was a way to stop them from growing up so quickly.

Some of my hobbies are running, watching and playing athletics, reading, spending time with friends and family, music, theater, photography, spending time at the lake, and traveling.

My Philosophy of Education

My philosophy of education is that every child can learn. Students learn in different ways, and it an effort of cooperation between the school, home, and the community to find the best way for a child to learn.

I believe that:

Learning should take place with the interests and abilities of the students in mind.

Learning should be valid to the child.

Learning should incorporate real-life experiences.

Learning should be ongoing and flexible.

Learning should be student centered.

Learning takes a lifetime.

****************************************************

I am at school normally between 7:30-8:00 a.m., so that is a good time to reach me.

After school I usually will answer the phone until about 3:45 p.m. I may be reached after that time also, but 3:15-3:30 is the best time to be able to reach me.

During school hours I may not answer the phone if we are in the middle of class instruction.

If there is an emergency, please contact the BCIS office directly at 533-1400.

I do check my email a couple time during the day, and try to respond to emails within a timely manner.   Email is the easiest way to reach me.
