Sheep bell theft (1869)

Extract from Maidstone Telegraph 20th March 1869

WATERINGBURY. A Young Thief.

—At the Malling Police Court, on Monday week, Thomas Adams, 14 years of age, was brought up before J. L. Wildman and R. Tassell, Esqrs., charged with stealing a sheep bell and strap, value 4s. the property of E. Goodwin, Esq., Wateringbury. Prisoner was in the employ of Mr Goodwin, and had been been previously convicted. The Bench sentenced prisoner to 28 days' imprisonment, and at the expiration of that time to be sent to a reformatory for five years.
