Extract from Sporting Life - Saturday 12 February 1881

Wateringbury, Kent 'one minute from Railway Station'.— Grand pigeon-shooting match will take place in an enclosed ground on Tuesday, February 15, 1881 commencing at 11.00 with trial sweepstakes, after which a splendid silver cup will shot for by twelve members at £1 each. Flve birds each, from five traps; handicap distances. The winner can have cash less five per cent, if preferred. Mr. Nichols handicapper and referee. Gentlemen can have one or more chances. The usual optional sweepstakes follow. Hammond and Co , London, will be at the ground early with a plentiful supply birds. Luncheon and tea will provided Mr. C. Hutson, Kent Arms and S.E.R. Hotel, Wateringbury. Admission will be charged to the ground.[Advt]
