For the safety of our athletes, particularly our youth athletes, USA Track & Field has committed to

providing a safe environment in which our athletes compete and train.

The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) requires all Olympic National Governing Bodies to implement the Safe Sport Program in 2015. Purpose of the program is to provide a safe environment for our athletes to train and compete in. The Safe Sport handbook covers the following: safe sport policies, athlete protection policies and guidelines, codes of conduct, screening and background check program, education and training, and reporting process.

All youth coaches will be required to take the safe sport course and pass an exam. The course is an online training module put together by the USOC. The course covers 14 lesson areas that include, but are not limited to sexual, physical and emotional misconduct, local and overnight travel, bullying and harassment. The training videos in total are approximately 90 minutes long and include four quizzes and a final exam.
