OHIO ASSOCIATION YOUTH CHAIR ELECTION

The Ohio Association youth committee will be electing a new youth chair at their youth meeting in September.

This meeting will take place prior to the Ohio Association General Membership Meeting on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Meeting location is the Sharon Woods Spring Hollow Lodge in Westerville, Oh

YOUTH CHAIR DUTIES

Facilitate communication within the association to the benefit of all member clubs and athletes. (Currently using email blast, youth webpage, facebook and face to face meetings with coaches/athletes/parents at meets throughout the year.)

Responsible for establishing a track & field and cross country meet schedule for the association. (Work with our clubs to ensure we have a satisfactory schedule.)

Hold periodic youth meetings to ensure that our members have an opportunity to have their voices heard with regard to our youth program. (Currently hold meetings twice a year before our semi-annual association meetings.)

Answer questions and handle any disputes that may arise.

Follow USATF guidelines, competition rules and procedures.

Responsible for the running of the association Junior Olympic track & field and cross country championships. This includes the following: (1) finding a meet site, (2) obtaining a meet sanction, (3) obtaining awards, (4) appointing a meet director, (5) ensuring officials are available to work the meet, (6) establish a meet schedule, (7) ensure meet information is disseminated to all association members, (8) ensure that the on-line entry system is set up, and (9) ensure that meet results are forwarded to the regional online entry system in a timely manner. (Some of these duties can be shared with other individuals.)

Work with the other four youth chairs in our region to establish rules, policies and procedures for the hosting of region championships.

Attend the region championships to support/assist the association athletes, serve on the jury of appeals and perform any other duties assigned by the region coordinator.

Represent the Ohio Association at the annual USATF youth workshop and USATF annual meeting.
