Who We Are

Our Statement of Faith

As a church fellowship, we believe in God who is infinite in wisdom, power and love; whose mercy is over all His work and whose will is ever directed to His children’s good.

In joy do we confess that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord and with gladness do we see that we are called to proclaim, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the Good News of God’s reconciling grace. In the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, our God seeks, in holy love, to save all people. To all who would trust Him, He promises forgiveness of sin and fullness of life, now and forever.

We believe in the Holy Spirit – God present with and within us – who daily offers us guidance, comfort and strength.

With the inspiration and embracing love of God’s Holy Spirit, we strive to be followers of Jesus Christ.

Our Statement for Acting out our Faith

We celebrate the rich heritage of several religious backgrounds among our members. Recognizing that each individual’s journey of faith is unique, we are people who:

CLAIM a personal relationship to God in Jesus Christ and who attempt to live our lives as visible witnesses to God’s love;

RECEIVE the Bible as the inspired Word of God, our guide for daily living, and who seek by the guidance of the Holy Spirit to understand and interpret God’s Word;

GATHER regularly to worship, praise God and publicly confess our faith in a corporate celebration of joy;

STRIVE to fulfill the Great Commission, inviting persons to come to know Christ, making new disciples and reaching out to support a worldwide mission effort;

CARE for the needy, the weak, the hurt and the oppressed;

FIND unity in our diversity as we respect individual differences of conviction and theology.

Our Statement of Inclusion

The United Church of Lincoln, where doors and hearts are open in affirmation.

As the United Church of Lincoln, our doors and hearts are open in welcome and in the affirmation that every person has equal worth as a special and unique creation made in God’s image.

As the United Church of Lincoln, in the spirit of Jesus’ great commandment to love God, and our neighbors as ourselves, we welcome into the full life and ministry of this faith community, including membership and leadership, the height, breadth, and width of humanity.  In doing so, we affirm that each person is an embodiment of God-given gifts, gifts that reside in persons of any race, color, age, gender, gender identity and expression, marital status, family structure, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, economic status, national origin, or ethnicity.

We further commit ourselves to ensuring that the United Church of Lincoln is a sanctuary and safe place where all may find comfort in knowing that they are accepted and loved unconditionally, without threat of judgment or condemnation.

We pray that through our journey of coming together in Christ’s name, embracing our God given diversity, our efforts toward deeper and wider inclusion and respect for universal, God given, human dignity will lead us to actively serve as a reflection of God’s unconditional love in the world that surrounds us.
