Day of National Significance Plankers Wanted !
The 6th of July 2011 - the Save Kapiti group staged a March on Parliament against the motorway of 'National' significance that is being bulldozed through their community.
There are several other communities around New Zealand who are directly affected by these projects, but there are a great many more of us out here who are concerned about the 'road' the National Government is taking us down.
What groups are going to be doing:
Save Kapiti
Gisborne-Napier Rail Action Group
Rail and Marine Transport Union
We are working towards setting up small meetings around not only in the areas immediately affected, but the whole country, where people can get together to discuss these issues, -and to take photos of their groups to send with messages to their MPs to let them know that we want to see an
approach to the provision of transport infrastructure that will be less expensive, more sustainable, appropriate and resiliant with much more
consideration being given to the inevitability that fossil fuels, our main reducable contribution to climate change are going to become increasingly unaffordable.
