Anvil Lake Association's (ALA) current Wisconsin DNR Grants.

Clean Boats Clean Waters - CBCW 281-16

The ALA is sponsoring a 2016 Clean Boats Clean Waters project which includes one public boat landing located at the Nicolet National Forest Anvil Lake Campground. The CBCW project includes boats inspection for invasive plants and educational information provided by the Wisconsin DNR and a short boater's survey questionnaire. Students from the University of Wisconsin @ Stevens Point and volunteers from the ALA provide the manpower at the boat landing.

Aquatic Invasive Species Early Detection & Response Project Phase II - AIRR 177-15

The ALA has also been able to secure an extension on their original Aquatic Invasive Species grant to be completed byDecember 31, 2017. The project will focus on surveying,mapping and harvesting Eurasian Water-Milfoil (EWM) and Curly Pond Weed (CPW) in Anvil Lake.

The project activities include: annul early-season AIS & peak-biomass surveys; early season acoustic survey: EWM & CPW hand harvesting efforts and Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting (DASH); and develop annual maps and letter report.

Project deliverables include: EWM survey data and maps; annual letter report describing the findings of he early -spring survey, peak-biomass survey, acoustic survey, hand harvesting efforts and Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting efforts.

Anvil Lake Management Planning : AIS Control Strategy Development - AEPP 460-15

The ALA is also sponsoring an AIS Education, Prevention, & Planning grant to study Anvil Lake in Vilas County. The project will focus on developing an AIS Control Strategy and Plan for EWM & CLP on Anvil Lake.

Project activities include: Stakeholder participation planning meetings,kick-off meeting,wrap -up meeting, news releases, and newsletter article; Fisheries assessment; Shoreline & coarse woody habitat assessment; aquatic plant survey; (PI survey, acoustic, community mapping, substrate mapping); data analysis; and updated Lake Management Plan.

The board of directors of the lake association encourage all property owners in the Anvil Lake watershed to volunteer their time as well as financial support to help complete these projects.
