BCLK 106

BCLK 106 vs 100

The question is, what kind of overclocking will benefit the performance of my rig the most. A high BCLK or a low BCLK with a higher multiplier. I wanted to find out so I made some tests. All tests are done in a row, then rebooted, change setup and redo the same tests again.

All the tests here is done with watercooling on auto, and the GFX isnt overclocked at all.

Setup to the left:

BCLK: 106

CPU multiplier is set to: 49, 48, 48, 47 and BCLK 105.9 (I keep in the safe voltage zone <1.52v)

Setup to the right:

BCLK: 100 (the 5.2 Everyday setup)

CPU multiplier is set to: 52, 51, 51, 50 and BCLK 100.0 (I keep in the safe voltage zone <1.52v)

Memory auto-adjust adjust the BCLK from 105.9 to 106.

3Dmark06 - 35443 @ 106 3Dmark06 - 35052 @ 100

3Dmark11 - P7159 @ 106 3Dmark11 - P7134 @ 100

3Dmark Vantage - 29042 @ 106 3Dmark Vantage - 29061 @ 100

Conclusion

It does not really matter if you choose high multiplier or high BCLK. Heat, power consumption and performance is equal.
