Monterey County
Quote of the Week:
“This Court has all it needs to conclude that Defendants have trampled on Senator Kelly's First Amendment freedoms and threatened the constitutional liberties of millions of military retirees. After all, as Bob Dylan famously said, 'You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.’” ~ Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Leon in his decision to halt the Justice Department’s efforts to censure Arizona Senator Mark Kelly and reduce his retired Navy rank.
All events are Pacific Time. New items are in blue.

ACTION AND INFORMATION
Action: Resist and Unsubscribe. The Trump administration is unfazed by citizen outrage. He responds to one thing – the markets. A coordinated campaign that attacks tech companies and firms enabling ICE is a potent, targeted weapon to resist the administration’s criminal transfer of wealth to the U.S. oligarch class.
###
Action: Halt the ICE Terror Machine. Congress is negotiating a deal to fund Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that is killing people in the streets, taking our children, and trampling our rights. A temporary stopgap measure currently funds DHS through February 13th while negotiations continue. We must keep up the pressure on Congress to protect our communities. Find action links provided by Indivisible.

MPJC moved to its present Seaside location at 1364 Fremont Boulevard in 2008.
The mission of the Monterey Peace and Justice Center is to inspire and mobilize the people of Monterey County to cultivate peace, social justice, nonviolence, democracy, and environmental sustainability in our community and the world through education and advocacy. MPJC presents a wide spectrum of topics to stir up conversation about the issues. The MPJC board does not necessarily endorse the views of every speaker or film.
