These families lived in present Amelia County, formed from
Prince George County in 1737.
The above William Gallemore married Mary Tucker, dau of
William Tucker and wife, Ann (?Hawks, da of Abraham Hawks)
In 1747, William Tucker gave William Gallemore 300 acres between Deep Creek and Cellar Creek in present Nottoway Co.
(formed from Amelia Co.)"for love and affection and a better way of life."
In 1750, William Gallemore and wife, Mary, moved to Lunenburg Co., Va. where his brother, James Gallemore, was living. This area was attacked by Indians in 1754-1756 and the Gallemores may have moved to North Carolina during that time. Many did move and some never returned to Virginia but others did after the attacks ended.
The above William Tucker was a full brother of my James Tucker Sr., sons of Capt. Robert Tucker and (1) Elizabeth Parham. My Tucker line moved to Surry Co., NC in 1783 and
to District 16, Hawkins Co., Tenn. in 1812 where Jane Tucker, dau of Williamson Tucker and wife, Peggy Feagins, married Isham Dykes in 1843, son of John Dykes Sr. and wife, Susannah Robertson. Isham Dykes' brother, William,
married Anna Gallemore, da of Abraham and Sarah Gallemore.
Isham's Uncle, William Dykes Jr., married Jane "Jenny" Gallemore, da of Abraham and Sarah Gallemore of Greene Co., Tennessee, in 1810. Abraham signed his Will: Abraham GalleMore. Valentine Sevier, Clerk of Court in Washington Co., Tenn. where William Dykes Jr. applied for the marriage license, read "More" as Jenny's last name.
The Tucker and Coleman lands were surveyed in 1712 by Robert Bolling, Surveyor for Prince George County. Their lands lay in Amelia County between Winticomack Creek and Namozine Creek. The Gallemore Family must have settled in or near that area but were killed. A record of their land has not yet been published as far as I know.
