KCIK: Muslim Inmate Rehabilitation Fund

Seeking the Pleasure of the Lord, Most High

Masha’Allah, we are blessed to carry out this program and we pray that other Islamic institutions and missions as well as religious and secular organizations do the same all around the world.

There are three folds who are responsible and/or care and if they come forward, it will be a benefit to all.

This program endeavors to help the Muslims who have been released from incarceration including those who have taken Shahadah as inmates, realizing that no star shines brighter or more clearly than Islam to those who long for the path of truth, wisdom and guidance in this life.

With the help and permission of Allah (SWT), the Muslim Inmate Rehabilitation Fund will help to provide some short-term support, allowing the Muslims re-entering society to focus on establishing themselves in a community of moral support, finding Halal employment and avoiding the undesirable places, habits, company and activities of the past which (at best) are unwise.

We recognize there are some existing sources of support for the released Muslim inmates such as family, relatives and friends, the government and the community to which they return. However, it should also be recognized that a significant number of inmates do not have access to these means of support. The inmate may have no family or friends, or they may have withdrawn from the inmate. In addition, a criminal record can make finding employment difficult. O’ Lord, have mercy upon those whose repentance is accepted and who yet find no rest from a sin or act of disobedience that was committed, Ameen.

There are programs in certain countries and places in which governments offer rehabilitation programs for young men and women, providing training, academic education, free housing, medical and dental care. Students also receive a clothing allowance and, at the completion of training, a readjustment allowance. We hope that similar programs can be implemented more widely so that, insha'Allah, those who wish to do so may begin a new life with a new purpose. In addition, with increased opportunity we expect rates of recidivism to fall accordingly.

In contrast to those areas in which there are provisions for inmate(s), there are inmate(s) all around the world who receive food once a day or even less often, living in a state of such suffering and difficulty that should bring free human beings to tears. We encourage our brothers and sisters to remember them with kindness in their prayers and we pray for them.

This program may also supplement our Dawah program, providing assistance and material (Qur’an and other publications, prayer rugs, etc.) for inmates not yet released, InSha’Allah.

The cost of shipping such items is such that visitors and volunteers are encouraged to bring these items with them for delivery directly to inmates or to an appropriate official for later distribution. Please call or write to ensure that an institution permits such items BEFORE any such visit. Also, since the number of inmates in any prison is usually high, it is a challenge to reach each and every individual, so we appeal to the inmates to share with each other.

Again, please take note that if you are planning to visit any institution, you must contact the institution beforehand, have your name assigned for the visit and inquire as to what they will and will not allow you to carry on institution property, for yourself and/or for inmates. Also, you may accept from the inmate(s) only what is expressly allowed, as consequences for rule violations can be severe for you as well as the inmate(s). Rules and regulations vary from one institution to another, and it should be noted that what is allowed for one inmate may not be allowed for another, for various reasons.

For our part, we must obey all rules of the institutions and we must always be sincere. Nabiy Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi Wasalam) said, “Religion is sincerity. Whoever is anxious to (enter) paradise, he hastens doing good deeds.” The Glorious Qur'an says,” I will not suffer the work of any of you that worketh to be lost, be he male or female, the one of you being from the other." "Then he who hath done an atom-weight of good shall see it." 3:195 & 99:7

We urge you, your family and friends and any officials to join us in this and all beneficial efforts, and we invite all our brothers and sisters to participate in this program. Please contact KCIK or simply send your full name, address, telephone/fax numbers and e-mail address. “And spend ye of what We have provided you with (in the way of Allah), ere when cometh unto you death, you say: O' my Lord! Respite me unto a near term, so that I may give alms, and be of the doers of good." (Glorious Qur'an 63:54)

InSha'Allah, this program will enable us all to serve Islam and humanity in the best way. We hope you will be one of those (Mohsineen and Al-Mohsinaat) to come forward and donate for this cause, making every effort to help us fulfill our objective, InSha'Allah.

The Glorious Qur'an says, “Whoever takes part in doing good shall be credited with a share of it." (4:85) O' Lord, record our good deeds and leave us delighted with what is written down concerning them (i.e. good deeds), Ameen.

Please note that the donations for this program are not applied toward the AL-KUFA Newsletter – this Dawah effort requires its own funding. The Glorious Qur'an says, “And Allah gave them the reward in this world and the excellent reward of the hereafter; Verily, Allah loves those who do good (to others)." (3:147) O' Lord, reward those who act righteously with goodness and blessings for all that He has conferred upon them of His countless favors, Ameen. Jazakum Allahu Khairan.

InSh’Allah, we begin this program with a fund of $1,000, from a (Mohsin) from Virginia who donated specifically for this program, Al-Hamdulillah. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'Ala) reward and bless him for his words and action and good deeds with goodness, Ameen. We realize that such a rehabilitation program requires a great funding base. InSha'Allah, we will contribute toward meeting some initial expenses, and we pray for our brothers and sisters, AlMomineen and AlMominaat, AlMohsineen and AlMohsinaat, AlMutasaddiqeen and AlMutasaddiqaat who also pray, with Dua’a, encouragement and help, caring, assistance and support for our efforts to serve all, especially with this program.
