Mission Statement:

We will stimulate conversation about a broad range of current topics to provide an opportunity for personal and societal growth. We will create an open atmosphere where listeners feel safe, accepted and respected. As a result, listeners should feel comfortable and compelled to share their ideas. They will be accepted and respected for who they are and for what they believe in. Through our own personal experiences, and those of interviewees and call-ins, we will show listeners how they can change their lives and essentially positively impact the world.

Show Premise:

"When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world; As I grew older and wiser I realized the world would not change. And I decided to shorten my sights somewhat and change only my country. But it too seemed immovable. As I entered my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I sought to change only my family, those closest to me, but alas they would have none of it. And now here I lie on my death bed and realize (perhaps for the first time) that if only I’d changed myself first, then by example I may have influenced my family and with their encouragement and support I may have bettered my country, and who knows, I may have changed the world." – Anglican Bishop

Upcoming Show Topics:

Equality: Although women have made great strides in the workplace, home, and society, (mostly in part to the feminist movement), great inequality still exists between men and women. In the workplace, women make .70 to $1. In the home, although women now more than ever are in the workplace, still do the majority of the housework and child rearing. In society, women are still portrayed as subordinate to men. How can we change this? How can women become more equal to men? How can we have equality for all citizens, since we are all equal?

Media effects on women and men: The media has a very powerful effect on everyone. Backed by scientific evidence, people form stereotypes, expectations, and beliefs based on the media, even though the media (particularly television) is not a true representation of the real world. Minorities are underrepresented, female characters are often thin and ultra-feminine, and male characters are dominant and extremely powerful. These images impact viewers in various ways. For example, viewing blacks as criminals or bad guys creates negative associations with blacks and watching thin women in the media is correlated with eating disorders. How can we combat these negative effects of the media in our lives? Is it enough to just recognize the effects, or must we do something about them? How has the mass media affected your perceptions of races or genders?

School and Education: Quote by Mark Twain, “I never let my schooling get in the way of my education.” (Discuss personal anecdotes of this.) I’ve been a victim of this and I see it happen all too often with my fellow classmates, especially at U of M, where getting that A means everything. Many students, employees and people in general, are so concerned about getting the high grade, raise, or acceptance to graduate school, that they forget the main reasons they are there: to learn and to grow as a human being. Although I understand the importance of high marks, we still must take a step back and re-evaluate ourselves both in and out of the classroom so that we are not just going through life without really “learning.

Four Radical Scientific Findings for Discussion: (Do listeners agree/believe this?) Vladimir Poponin researched the DNA Phantom Effect. DNA has an effect on everything, even when we are not there. He experimented with light photons and DNA strand in a vacuum before and after inserting the strand. His findings included:

    • 97% of neurological part of our body is dormant. 75% of DNA part of our body is dormant

    • Harold Saxon Burr - "L Field"; every living thing transmits/receives photons of light/life. The person with greater consciousness receives higher energy.

    • Fritz-Albert Popp - As DNA starts to unwind, it has the ability to receive/transmit greater amounts of light = energy. More feelings of hate, anger, etc = DNA tightened. His idea went through the phase of any new radical idea: Ridiculed, violently opposed, and finally accepted as self-evident.

  • Heart Math Institute - "Heart Field"; the heart forms before the brain in the womb; it has its own cognitive process; transmits energy/light five feet outward and up to a mile in the quantum realm. Basically, others can feel our positive or negative energy, and we must recognize and utilize this power.
