Exam

Exam took it's place on May, 28th 2011. 

Preparation
Students were provided with information on exam format and topics 2 weeks before the event. It was informed that exam consisted of 4 parts, 3 were described and 1 was kept in secret. It was supposed that students had to prepare for the first 2 types of tasks.

Exam process
The use of any materials was prohibited during the exam. Students were provided with paper and pen. Students could use both Russian and English languages with extra scoring for English usage.
The whole exam took approximately 3 hours and consisted of four tasks; a fixed amount of time was assigned for each tasks. Students were not allowed to re-organize their time from one activity to another.

First
"Short questions" included three questions. Each of them required an answer of approximately one paragraph size. Answers were requested to be clear and short; most of them were given during the course by experts, curators or via texts and homework. The initiative and personal approach on the part of students (f.e., non-classic but more informative and useful definition) were welcome, though. The list of short questions is available here. Questions’ numbers were selected with the use of a random number generation software.30 minutes

Maximum possible score for each short question was 4 points.
Second
"Essay", included two topics. Each of them required an answer in a form of an essay. The primal goal was to describe the personal understanding of IT industry as a complicated system with people, organizations and institutes as its elements. Although the list of 17 topics has been given preliminarily, students had to write essays on 2 out of 3 topics (#3, #11, #13), selected by their own choice.

Third
“Secret task”, was to create a picture with 3 structures presented in interrelation: IT labour markets, education institutes and student’s own educational/professional path. For this task students were provided with colored pencils.25 minutes

FourthIncluded evaluation of another student’s third task picture. Students had to suggest criteria for the evaluation as well as perform evaluation.25 minutesValuable comment or addition.Maximum possible score for the review of the third task was 8 points.
