The arrival of the 2015 Arbeitsbericht of the Vetus Latina Institute brings news of two forthcoming publications in the series Aus der Geschichte der lateinischen Bibel:

  • Thomas Johann Bauer (ed.), Traditio et Translatio. Studien zur lateinischen Bibel zu Ehren von Roger Gryson. AGLB 40. Freiburg: Herder, 2016.
  • John Liam de Paor, The Earliest Irish Glosses on the Pauline Epistles. An Edition of the Text and Glosses of Vulgate Manuscript E, as found in Cambridge B.10.5. AGLB 41. Freiburg: Herder, 2016.

The Gryson Festschrift includes a study of Mark 1:23–27 by J.-C. Haelewyck and my own examination of the text of Luke in VL 11A. De Paor's edition of VgOp E (the Trinity College portion is actually VgOp S) is mentioned in The Latin New Testament as in preparation, and may now be added to the bibliography.

The Arbeitsbericht also announces a new edition of VL 44 (the Rosenthal fragment) to be published in 2017 by Thomas Johann Bauer and Annette Weissenrieder. According to Prof. Bauer, the text in the second edition of the Itala is inaccurate and the revised text shows that the manuscript should be classed as a member of the Gallo-Irish group. It is already included among Prof. Martin McNamara's list of Irish witnesses on www.insulargospels.net.
