POLICE are appealing for information following a break-in at St Mary the Virgin church Widdington.
The rear wooden door at St Mary the Virgin church was damaged when it was forced open
Sometime from Thursday 2nd June pm and Saturday, June 4.
A pair of brass candle sticks, along with a pair of antique wooden chairs were taken the
thieves also took the old keys from the main and rear doors these are hundreds of years old.
Police want to speak to any witnesses who may have seen anything.

Description of the pair of Candlesticks that were stolen
Each brass candlestick has a plain nozzle edge with a simple collect and is contained within a hemispherical drip pan
decorated with cut card up stand. A reel stem, with central compressed knop, is connected to the drip pan by a
simple collect and has another annulation above the plain flaring foot which has 4 steps at its base.

Description of the pair of wooden chairs that were stolen
Over the top rail of each of the chairs is an elaborately carved pierced garland.
The central splat has elaborate open carving with floral motif between 2 moulded rails have knopped finials.
3 sides of the seat have an incised scallop Patten. The turned front legs each have 2 floreate motifs.
The back legs are barley-twist with knob feet. The central and side stretchers are barley-twist in part.
The padded fixed seat is covered in dark red velvet.

Door Keys stolen
The only information we have on the Keys stolen is '3 cast iron keys each with a long shank and trefoil terminal dating from restoration in 19th c.
