Policies

Policy regarding electronic meetings, per Article III, Section 10 of the Classis By-Laws:

  1. The stated session shall be convened electronically only by an affirmative vote of a quorum of the Executive Committee.

  2. The Call to Meeting, complete with Agenda and supporting documentation, will be published in compliance with Article III, Section 2 of the by-laws.

  3. All members of the classis shall have the ability to speak into the meeting and to hear the proceedings of the committee. Video presence is not required.

  4. In order to control discussion, virtual meetings shall be synchronous; i.e., all members (and relevant guests, if any), must be virtually “present” at the same time. E-mail “voting” is prohibited. (see Article VIII, Section 1)

  5. The agenda of the meeting shall be as limited as possible.

  6. Minutes of the meeting shall be kept and are subject to approval of a future meeting of the classis.

  7. All votes shall be taken by a method prescribed by the Clerk and shall be tallied by the tellers.

  8. When possible (and relevant), the current officer(s) of the Classis will meet in one location; the remainder of the Classis may join from remote locations.

  9. A virtual stated session shall conform to ByLaw III of Classis Delaware Raritan and section 1.II.4.1 of the Book of Church Order.

  10. In extraordinary circumstances, some strictures may be relaxed. However, if one of the strictures is not observed, the reason for non-compliance shall be listed in the minutes of that meeting.
