Final Week Due Dates

During the final week of the field school (February 6-12, 2010) the following schedule will be followed. Each student should complete these tasks:

Saturday (2/6)

  • Open Research Day

Monday (2/8)

  • Open Research Day

Tuesday (2/9)

  • Open Research Day
  • 7PM- Each student should have arranged for at least one other student to review a draft of their final project paper as it is currently posted within their web site. This will be indicated by posting a "reviewer" link to the web site of the person(s) who are functioning as reviewers at the top of the first page of the draft project or on the table of contents page (it should be very obvious who the reviewer is).

Wednesday (2/10)

  • Complete Writing during Day
  • before noon- Each student should complete their review of other student's final projects. Reviews do not need to be detailed but should be critical and probably should be based upon McClatchey 2006, Appendix 1.
  • 7PM- Pairs of Students Presenting Ecology Modules (each person giving 2)
    • 10 minutes each. Will be timed.
  • 12midnight- Individual Web Site Content Should Include Links to the Following:
    • Environmental Measurements/Phenology Study
    • Plant Ecology Modules (multimedia)
    • Wikipedia Page
    • Final Project
    • Current CV

Thursday (2/11)

  • Complete Writing During Day, Produce Brief Final Presentation From Writing
  • 12noon- All Field School Equipment is Due. Please hand in all equipment including flashlights and other items that have been borrowed.
  • 7PM- Each Student Presents Final Project Report (5 minute (timed) overview presentation)[projector will be turned off at 5 minutes.]
    • 4 (only!) Power Point/Photo Images (1-hypothesis+methods, 1-results, 1-discussion, 1-conclusions)
  • 12midnight- Submit final project report with complete Authors, Addresses, Abstract, Introduction, Hypothesis, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, Literature Cited and any Tables and Figures. Each project will be submitted for consideration as a publication in the journal Ethnobotany Research and Applications. Criteria for document production may be found at:

Friday (2/12)

  • 7AM- Wikipedia Page Overview
    • Each student should have a link through their web site to the wikipedia page that they have generated.
  • 8-10AM- Final Examination
  • 10-10:15- Break
  • 10:15-11AM- Field School Evaluation, Debriefing and Conclusion
  • 11AM-12noon- Field School Conclusion
    • Check for Field School Equipment/Supplies
    • Help Sort Field School Group Equipment
    • Clean-up Camping Area
    • Put Bags in Vans for Airport
  • 12noon-later- Vans to Airport
    • Need Schedule of Student Departures
