How do I join?

What does it cost?

The first week is completely free of charge. The Governing Body grants one month free insurance cover on all new participants.

The club charges £2 per week. We are a non-profit organisation which merely seeks to cover our costs.

You will also need a licence, after you have gone through the free introductory insurance period. The licence is insurance and also entitles members to be promoted up the grading system. The costs of these exams are currently £15 for the 8+ age group and £5 for the under 8s.

What do I wear?

Something old! Preferably with sleeves. We work barefoot on the mat.

Will I get injured?

This is exceedingly unlikely. In our 40+ year history we have not had a beginner injured. We take great care to teach in a structured manner and the existing members always take great care when practicing with a new member.

What do I do now?

Just turn up at the club at the appropriate time (about 6.30 for juniors and 7.45 for teenagers and adults) and say hello. If you are not sure about joining in straight away, just watch.

We operate throughout the school terms on a Friday night.
