The many extensive flower beds are featured in Great Gardens to Visit: A Guide to Ontario's Outstanding Gardens . Each garden at Black Walnut is thematic.

The Rose garden has innumerable English Roses with exquisite scent and shapes.

Throughout the season, as the roses come and go, breathtaking burgundy and fuchsia peonies; multiple blue delphinium' and 30 kinds of alium are all outlined by delicate periwinkle blue cat mint.

The Mediterranean Bed features hibiscus and mallow, lavenders and dahlias, a giant rosemary, fig tree with figs, kaffir lime, orange and bay tree.

The White garden features specialty bulbs in early, mid, and late spring and is breathtaking with a remarkable display of single and tree peonies along with Rhododendron and fothergilla, deutzia, pieris, lavatera and nicotania.

The gardens are lovely through each of the seasons. Early Spring starts with snowdrops. Then crocus and anemone, exotic tulips and narcissi follow. The palette is complete with a beautiful Monet brushstroke of multi-hued hyacinth.

Summertime is gorgeous with lilies and phlox of every description. Fall has its display of hydrangeas, late bulbs and brilliant shrubbery.
