Hotkey Use

Hotkeys require SKSE to function properly.

Hotkeys are disabled by default. Turn them on using my MCM or the console command from my customization page.

Be careful ... don't mash or spam a hotkey! Sometimes it may take a second to ready a spell or use an ability - it all depends how many other scripts are running in your game. I've made adjustments to help prevent it, but tapping away like crazy on a hotkey could crash things.

The best thing about these hotkeys? They will not disappear when you change satiation stage or rank and an ability is removed or replaced. If you become weaker and no longer have Reveal Auras, once you become stronger and regain that ability your hotkey functions once again - you don't have to reset it even if the power is temporarily removed. If you rank up and get a stronger version of Drain, Frost Cloud, etc. the hotkey will automatically use the correct and stronger version of the spell/ability.

Use my MCM to set up your hotkeys, but be careful you don't set them to a hotkey already assigned to another mod. I have error checking enabled and it will tell you if there is a conflict with a Skyrim hotkey, but it can't always check other mod conflicts.

    • If it is a Lesser Power or Power that is hotkeyed, it will ready your power and activate it for you (please be aware that this does change the power/shout that you currently have readied ... I had to do this so powers couldn't be spammed indefinitely with no cost)

    • If it is a spell that is hotkeyed, it will ready it in your left or right hand; you choose (I don't have an option for dual casting).

For more control over game hotkeys, and the ability to change even hard coded hotkeys (like numbers 1-8), I recommend you try "Interface Hard Coded Key Tweaks". More of your remapped keys will work instead of having to use the hard coded ones, and optionally allows binding commands to the numpad by removing the hotkey commands from there.

Skyrim Key Helper by crazy-g (from the Nexus page above) can assist you in making completely customized key and mouse button assignment changes.

"AH Hotkeys" is a hotkey manager mod to allow anything that can be equipped to be hotkeyed, including equipment sets, and to enable autocasting of spells and shouts, all using a simple and easy-to-use interface. AH Hotkeys can work alongside the vanilla hotkeys as well as other mods that provide various hotkey functions, though bear in mind that they will all try to process the same key press and compete for priority.

I do not have the expertise to create multi-key hotkeys (like CTRL-R). You'll have to use a mod like "More Hotkeys Please" for added complexity. It is no longer being maintained. If another modder would like to assist me, my hotkeys are set in the BetterVampiresConfigMenu script and implemented at the bottom of the PlayerVampireQuest script - source files are included with my mod.
