Feeding Animation Issues

Timing in a script can sometimes cause the animation to not play. If another script is running at the same time it may cause things to slow down and misfire. I have also noticed that with the standing front/back animation that comes with Seduction feeding in Dawnguard that, if you can’t quite get at the right angle to the NPC, the animation will fail to play (i.e. if the NPC was backed up against a wall and the angle was just right you wouldn’t be able to go into the wall so the animation fails). The standing feeding animation is very buggy in Skyrim itself, for example if there is any major height difference (i.e. vampire and/or victim are on stairs or slope) it simply won't play, and there is no reliable way of fixing this.

For the non- Dawguard version of my mod (since discontinued), seduction and sneak feeding, I forced the "hug" paired animation. It may sometimes not fire correctly if you and the NPC are not aligned properly.

If your character and the NPC don't have a good navmesh path between you, then an animation (especially a paired one) will not have the proper 'anchors' it needs in the game world and you may sometimes be 'teleported' to the nearest idle marker or furniture marker. This type of error is caused by people's placement on the navmesh and it even happens in vanilla Skyrim. I cannot avoid the issue entirely. I have also noticed that an animation may not play correctly if the NPC you are attempting to bite/feed on is in the middle of their own idle animation (i.e. sitting, reading, eating, etc.).

As a Vampire Lord, only one feeding animation exists - the grapple, feed, and kill your opponent animation. It can add to necks bitten, help increase your regular Vampire rank and help you progress with VL perk points all at the same time. Other animations do not exist and the grapple animation doesn't work for sleeping victims or dead bodies - so no animation plays.

Versions 6.7 (and lower) ...

If you think my animation for feeding on dead or paralyzed victims looks "weird" (crotch feeding) then I apologize. There is no animation for that in the game so I had to use an existing bedroll feeding animation. I have to center it on your target or the animation will miss and it really doesn't look right; if it is not centered, you may end up feeding on their neck, their feet, or sometimes miss entirely and feed on the dirt to the left of them. If you are in first person and are trying to feed on a dead (or paralyzed) body, then the animation will still play, but you WILL NOT be forced into third person so you cannot see the animation. People requested long ago that they not be forced into another perspective. If you want to see feeding on the dead, switch to third person quickly before feeding.

Versions 6.8 and higher have the feeding on the dead animation set as a "cannibalism" feed. If you prefer the old animation you can change it back in the MCM.
