Organist Stefano Barberino was born on 07/11/1980.

He received his first piano and organ lessons at the age of 9 years.

Later he studied organ in the conservatoire “J.Tomadini ” in Udine under Lino Falilone and harpsichord with Ilario Gregoletto.

In July, 2003 he concluded his studies with the acquisition of the certificate for organ and organ composition with Summa cum laude.

In 2008 Stefano Barberino finished the organ-concert exam with Prof. Paolo Crivellaro with Summa cum laude at the university of the arts (UdK) in Berlin.

In 2010 he finished the organ-improvisation Bachelor and in 2013 the organ-improvisation Master with Prof. Wolfgang Seifen at the university of the arts in Berlin.

He also studied organ with Prof. Leo van Doeselaar, Erwin Wiersinga and improvisation with Dirk Elsemann in the university of the arts Berlin.

He has studied Church music Bachelor at the UdK-Berlin with Prof. Frank Markowitsch and Church music Master at the EHK Halle with Prof. J. E. Ruddies and C. Jung.

From 2006 until 2018 he was organist at St Canisius church in Berlin-Charlottenburg and since 2012 Church musician at St Bonifatius church in Berlin-Kreuzberg (since 2021 parish community "Bernhard Lichtenberg" Berlin-Mitte).

He has given masterclasses for Organ improvisation in Italy, Germany and Ljubljana/Slovenia.

Since october 2018 he is teacher for Organ repertoire and Organ improvisation at the EHK Halle.

Since september 2019 he is teacher for Organ improvisation at the C-Seminar of the UdK Berlin.

Organ competitions:

1-st Price at the 3-rd national competition for organ music in Anguillara Veneta (Italy) 2002.

1-st Price at the 9-th national competition for organ music “Città di Viterbo” (Italy) 2004.

3-rd Price at the "August Humer" international Competition (1-st Price not awarded, Chair: Ton Koopman) Austria 06/2009.

- Semifinalist at the IOF, Improvisation Competition in St Albans 07/2009.

- Finalist at the 11. international Improvisation Competition in Schwäbisch Gmünd 08/2009.

2-nd Price at the international Improvisation Competition in Leipzig 10/2009.

1-st Price at the international Improvisation Competition in Bielefeld 11/2009.

Besides numerous appearances as soloist in organ and harpsichord concerts in Italy and abroad as for example in the orgel park Amsterdam, in the concert hall Frankfurt (Oder), Philharmonie Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin and in Berlin Cathedral, as well as in famous organ festivals like the Rassegna „Le ore dell'organo“ in Rome and Sommerkoncerter Aarhus Domkirke.

Furthermore Stefano Barberino visited furthermore master classes with famous lecturers like Michael Bouvard, Andrea Marcon, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Roberto Antonello, Naji Hakim, and Marie-Claire Alain.

He played, as soloist, together with the Brandenburg orchestra Frankfurt in the concert hall Frankfurt (Oder) and with the symphonic orchestra of the Humboldt university of Berlin.

He devotes himself to the study of the big organ repertoire as well as the investigation of unpublished works of Italian composers of the 18th and 19-th century. A result of these studies is the realised CD with organ works of the composer from the Friaul Giovanni Battista Candotti (1809-1876).
