What does an ISTE Designer do?


ISTE Designer Standards include:

Standard 5a Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.

Standard 5b Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.

Standard 5c Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning.

5a Artifact Grade 2 Physical Science, Matter is a student study guide. Students can use Brainpop Jr to safely research age appropriate information. Brainpop Jr. and Brainpop accommodate various learner differences and needs. Seesaw Digital Learning Portfolio can be used to create short instructional videos. Students can create a video to demonstrate problem-solving skills. Other students can watch these videos as needed.

Standard 5b Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.

5b Artifact Seesaw Digital Learning Portfolio allows students to see and hear themselves on video. Naturally, students want to record their best work. Teachers and peers can help students critique their work and revise it to improve the quality. This high quality work maximizes learning.

5c Artifact Models of Excellence from Expeditionary Learning has a wealth of resources for teachers and students. When students examine high-quality work, they have a better understanding of what is expected from them.
